Gionee W909 flip phone announced; packs in two 720p displays and 4GB RAM

If one display’s not enough for you, have two! Gionee has announced a flip phone called the W909. The device features two 4.2-inch 720p displays, one inside, the other outside. Both screens are supposed to be identical IPS panels.
The device is powered by a MediaTek Helios P10 chip and comes with 4GB of RAM. You also get 64GB of internal storage and there’s support for 128GB microSD cards. The device runs Gionee’s Amigo UI on top of Android 5.1, features a 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and boasts of a fingerprint sensor at the back.
You get a 2530mAh lithium ion battery and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. Strangely, the device is only available in Rose Gold and Pink, for now at least. Sadly, flipping open the phone reveals a regular numpad. We would definitely have preferred a nice QWERTY keyboard instead of T9.
This isn’t the first “premium” flip phone to use dual screens however, the Samsung SM-W2016 before it offered S6 specifications in a dual-screen flip-phone, or so says GSMArena.
The Gionee W909 is expected to go on sale in China at a price of CNY 4,000 (around Rs 41,000).
